Fellow New Castle County Emergency Services employees,

Happy Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season.  I am sending this email, not only as your Union President but as a co-worker.  As you may or may not be aware, this past Tuesday ordinance O19116 was introduced at County Council.  This ordinance changes the credited years of service from 30 down to 25 for ALL Emergency Services employees.  This is not just for Local 3911 members for ALL communications employees and ALL paramedics up to and including both Chiefs.  This is going to be a long and arduous uphill battle.  The next step in this process will be the vote of Council on December 10th.  I’m asking if you can make it to Council @ 6:30 pm, please try to attend.  I’m not sure at this time if we should show up in uniform so we can be easily identified or should we make up shirts showing support of O19116, but either way, I would see to as many of you attend as possible.  I have been assured by several Council members that we have their support and it should be approved with no issue.  The hurdle will be with the Pension Board.  I have attached a copy of the ordinance for your reading pleasure.  I will continue to post updates on the webpage and the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Local3911/).  I have enclosed a link to the ordinance below for your reading pleasure.   If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to reach out.
